History of The Association of Legal Administrators The Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) was formed in 1971 to provide support to professionals involved in the management of law firms, corporate legal departments and government legal agencies. ALA incorporated in Pennsylvania and was founded by Bradford W. Hildebrandt, Robert I. Weil, and Mary Ann Altman. By June 1971, 100 legal administrators had joined the Association. By 1975, the association had reached 1000 members. Today, ALA has over 10,000 members worldwide, representing more than 30 countries. Membership in the international organization is a requirement of local chapter membership. In addition to the many benefits of belonging to the South Florida Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators, there are many benefits from membership in the international organization. These include knowledge sharing and networking opportunities; professional recognition; chapter and leadership support; and multiple educational tools, exchanges, and educational events. |
